These are images I collected while traveling across the world in 2006. I was looking to see how individuals dealt with materials in regards to their culture and identity from different experiences, governments, and societies. I was particularly interested in what people collected, and how it became a signifier on how they were coping with being comfortable or struggling with what socioeconomic status they were in.

This caused me to follow globalization, starting in China and working my way through the former Soviet Union to western Europe by land. What is here are a few selected images of experiences that struck me the most.
